The Sculpture in the Civic Center Park Exhibition will showcase ten selected works for two years in the heart of Newport Beach at the newly created Civic Center Park. The 14-acre, ocean-view site was specially designed by renowned landscape architect Peter Walker as an intended sculpture garden. The ten sculptures were chosen from among 260 submissions. Criteria for the selection included artistic merit, durability, practicality and site responsiveness.

“Re:Imagine Garden Grove – A Downtown Open Streets Event” will take place on Sunday, October 12, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event invites residents and visitors to explore a car-free, re-envisioned downtown environment that will celebrate the community, diverse cultures, and a healthy lifestyle. The City has partnered with Los Angeles-based Community Arts Resources, Inc. (CARS) to produce the inaugural event. CARS produces L.A.’s CicLAvia open streets event and other acclaimed cultural programs with parallel missions to Garden Grove’s Open Streets. Green Public Art Consultancy has been invited to commission a temporary public art project to highlight a half-mile section of the route from the existing OCTA Pacific Electric Right-of-Way to the Civic Center.
